A number of Groucotts fought in the Great War, and in 1920 the Parish of Berkswich, gave as a gift an inscribed cup, to men who safely returned from the war.
There were a total of seven Groucotts (the maximum number of any surname) who were presented with a cup.
Note that six of the seven were in fact brothers -
Arthur, Frederick, Cornelius, William, Thomas Sydney & Albert Henry.
It would be interesting to know how many of these cups remain in existance today.
